That viral 'lick and stick' envelope seal test turned out to be false
My daughter sent me a TikTok claiming that licking envelopes is pointless because the glue doesn't actually work, so I tested it on 10 envelopes for a bill I mailed last Tuesday. Every single one sealed fine, and three days later my payment arrived at the utility company downtown without any issues. Has anyone else run into a video like this that just didn't hold up to real life?

My buddy tried this same thing with his rent check and said all ten envelopes stayed shut no problem. Guess the internet just needed something to freak out about again.

My friend Sarah did the same thing last week with her electric bill and all ten stayed shut for three days before she opened them. I think people are rushing to judge this thing without actually trying it themselves. The video that started this whole mess looked like they might have used cheap envelopes or old glue or something. My guess is most folks are just repeating what they heard instead of testing it out. It's like that time everyone swore those reusable sandwich bags never sealed right but mine worked fine for months. People love to pile on when they see something trending, you know.

Oh man, my coworker Lisa fell for this too! She spent a whole afternoon sealing 20 envelopes with a hairdryer because she saw that same video and thought the glue was fake. Turns out they all sealed perfectly normal when she just licked them like always. She even mailed a birthday card to her mom across the country and it got there in two days without a single problem. I swear people will believe anything if it's in a TikTok these days.
