That viral 'moon landing was fake' video my uncle sent me fell apart in 5 minutes

He sent me a clip claiming the shadows in Apollo photos prove it was staged. I found a NASA briefing from 1978 that explains parallax and multiple light sources with the exact same photos. Has anyone else had a relative buy into something you debunked in under 10 minutes?

Isn't it funny how people trust a random video from their uncle before they trust something from NASA itself? I've noticed that same pattern with friends who grab headlines off Facebook without reading the actual article. A little bit of digging always shows the truth is simpler than the story they wanted to believe.

Honestly @felixlane it's like people just want the drama more than the facts lol. That Facebook headline thing drives me nuts, takes two seconds to click through but nobody does.

Did you catch that piece on NPR the other day about how our brains actually prefer the quick emotional hit of a headline over thinking through an article? It's wild because we're literally wired to take shortcuts, but that doesn't mean we can't push ourselves to click through once in a while. I've started keeping a note on my phone with links to articles I almost shared without reading, just to check my own bad habits.
