That whole "eating eggs raises your cholesterol" thing... I actually looked at the studies

Turns out most of the original research was done on rabbits which have totally different biology, and newer meta-analyses with like 30,000 people show no link for most folks. Has anyone else found a commonly accepted fact that fell apart when you actually checked the sources?

Honestly that "8 glasses" thing is the one that gets me too. My mate Sarah was telling me how she used to force down water all day and ended up feeling sick, then she read the same study and realized she was just hydrating from her lunch and tea like a normal person.

Trust nothing without checking the sources yourself...

Man, same thing happened to me with the whole "you need 8 glasses of water a day" thing. Started digging and found out that myth came from a single 1945 recommendation that basically just said "most people need about that much" but never accounted for water in food or other drinks. Next thing you know it's a hard rule everyone repeats. Ended up finding a study where they tracked people who just drank when they were thirsty and their hydration was totally fine. Kinda makes you wonder what else we just take at face value.

That 1945 study actually accounted for water in food, people just ignored that part.
