I compared 6 months of viral health headlines to their actual studies and only 2 matched the claim
I started saving every viral health article my mom sent me back in April and then tracked down the original study each one came from. Out of 31 articles, only 2 actually said what the headline claimed, and most of the rest were either mouse studies or tiny sample sizes of like 18 people. Does anyone else keep a running list of sites that do this, or am I just wasting my time yelling into the void?
My sister sends me this stuff constantly and I started doing the same thing last year. The mouse study one kills me, a headline will say some food fights cancer and the actual study is 12 mice getting weird doses of a chemical. I keep a list in my notes app of the worst sites and it does feel good to send it back when she forwards another one.
