I spent 3 years trusting a viral chart that said eggs were 'basically cigarettes' and the source was a blog with no author
So here's my confession as someone who usually roasts bad articles in this community. I shared that stupid egg chart on Facebook back in 2021, got into an argument with my uncle in Tacoma about it at Thanksgiving, and felt real smug about it. Then last month my sister sends me the same chart asking if it's true. I finally clicked the little link at the bottom. It went to a wellness blog with no author name, no date, and a footer that said 'consult your doctor.' The whole chart was built off one 2019 study of 30 people, and the article cited it two ways that didn't even match. 30 people! I had been quoting it like it was gospel for 3 years. Now I check every chart before I repost it, which feels obvious in hindsight but apparently wasn't for me. Curious if anyone else has shared something in here they later had to walk back, and what made you finally look at the source link?
