I tested that viral "study" about phones in bed for 3 nights and the numbers didn't add up
So there was this article going around claiming people who keep phones out of the bedroom sleep 2 extra hours a night, and I wanted to see if the source was real. I read the actual paper it cited and the sample was 19 college kids in one dorm in Ohio, plus nobody measured sleep, they just asked people to guess. I wrote the journal's press office an email and got a reply two days later saying the 2 hour number came from a blog post, not the study itself. Now I always click through to the paper before I share anything. Does anyone know a good site that tracks how fast these viral health stats get repeated without a real source?
