That Facebook post about a kid getting abducted outside a Walmart in Ohio was from 2019 and a different state
So my aunt shared this post last week. It said a 12 year old got grabbed outside a Walmart in Dayton, Ohio. It had like 40,000 shares. I almost shared it too because it looked real. Then I typed the exact first sentence into Google with quotes. Took me about 4 minutes to find the same story from 2019 but it happened in Georgia and the kid got away. Some guy just changed the city and the year and reposted it. The photo was even from a stock site. Anyone else have a go to move for these? I usually just paste the first line with quotes now.
My mom does the same thing but with the photo, she right clicks and searches it. Last month she found out a pic of a "missing veteran" was actually some actor from a toothpaste ad. She was so proud of herself she told everyone at Thanksgiving.
