The 5-minute viral clip of a 'haunted' elevator shaft turned out to be a fisheye lens trick

My cousin sent me that trending elevator shaft video from Atlanta last Tuesday claiming it showed a ghost, but I replayed the reflection on the metal door and you can clearly see the wide angle distorting the cable line, so how do we get people to actually slow down and check the original source instead of just sharing the first version they see?

and honestly the bigger issue is that deepfakes are getting so good even the people making them cant tell what's real anymore. like the whole point of "looks real" is dead when you need a forensic team to verify a basic video.
