My neighbor's 2 minute phone tip saved me a $300 service call

My neighbor Dan, who fixes tractors for a living, told me to check the capacitor before calling anyone when my AC quit last July. I figured he was just old school, but I pulled the access panel and sure enough the round capacitor was bulged on top. A $22 part from the supply house in Evansville and 15 minutes with a screwdriver later, it was running cold again. Anyone else get handed a random piece of advice that turned out to be dead on?
