Viral bread mold hack failed my side by side test in Denver

Everyone was sharing those videos where you spray lemon juice on bread mold and it disappears in like 2 seconds. I called total nonsense on that, so last Saturday I grabbed two slices of the same loaf from my kitchen in Denver and sprayed one with bottled lemon juice. The other got plain water as a control. After 48 hours in a damp drawer, both slices had the same fuzzy green spots. The lemon juice slice maybe had slightly less growth, but it definitely did not melt the mold away like the video showed. I think those clips speed up time or use vinegar or bleach instead. Has anyone actually tested one of these food hacks side by side and found one that worked?
