I finally had a brand new tool die on me after 45 minutes on the job
Last Saturday I was swapping out a garbage disposal under my sister's sink in Oak Park. I had just bought this new cordless drill from the local hardware chain, figured it would save me some hassle. About 45 minutes in it just stopped spinning, no warning, no weird noise, just dead. Checked the battery, swapped to a fresh one, still nothing. Has anyone else had a brand name tool fail that fast or did I just get super unlucky with a lemon?

Heard some chatter on another forum about a bad batch of motors hitting the shelves lately... might be worth checking where you bought it.

Great, my luck with electronics is about as good as my luck with parking tickets.

I once bought a motor that felt like it was held together with hope and leftover epoxy, so trust me, I get the paranoia. Turns out if you drop a motor on concrete even once it can mess with the magnets way more than you'd think. Just check your batch number against the recalls if you can, or you'll be like me and end up with a very expensive paperweight.
