My old GPS died mid-trip in Nashville, paper map saved the day

Last month I drove to Nashville for a family thing and my 12 year old Garmin just froze on I-40. No signal on my phone either, so I pulled over at a gas station and bought a paper map for 3 dollars. Spent 20 minutes folding it wrong but finally got to my sister's place on time. Anyone else keep a paper map around after their tech let them down?

20 minutes of folding it wrong is honestly a rite of passage, Ive done that in my own driveway with zero stakes. My backup is a map printed from Google on 8 pages taped together, which looks like a ransom note but gets me there. Tech fails are just the universe forcing us to learn geography again, one wrong fold at a time.
