Switched from paper manuals to PDFs on a tablet in my shop
Used to have a whole shelf of service manuals for different car models, took forever to find the right page. Now I just search a PDF on a cheap tablet I keep on the bench, saves me maybe 15 minutes per job. Anyone else make a similar switch and find it cut down on mistakes?

Wait, you mean you had a whole shelf of paper manuals and you switched to a tablet? That's wild to me because I can't even keep a paper receipt straight without it getting coffee-stained and unreadable. Seriously though, 15 minutes per job adds up fast, that's like an hour or more a day saved. I tried using a tablet once but dropped it on a concrete floor on day two, cracked the screen right in half. How do you keep yours from getting smashed up or covered in grease?

Man, I gotta disagree. Paper manuals are way faster for me because I can flip between three pages at once and mark them up with a grease pencil. Yeah, searching a PDF is nice but scrolling back and forth on a small screen slows me down way more than just knowing where the tabs are on a physical book.
