Visited the Grand Canyon last month and think the south rim is way overhyped
I drove 12 hours to see the Grand Canyon and spent most of my time at the south rim like everyone said to. The crowds were insane and I could barely get a clear view without someone's selfie stick in my face. Has anyone had a better experience on the north rim or is it just as packed now?

Did you check out any of the less popular viewpoints on the south rim while you were there, like Desert View or Yavapai Point? Those spots are usually way less packed than the main village area. Wondering if the crowds just follow the shuttles and overlooks near the visitor center.

@shane_bell wait you're telling me Desert View was less crowded?? I must have walked right past it because I was so focused on the main village area. Seriously I had no idea there were quieter spots on the south rim, I just followed the crowds like a lemur.
No one in any of the travel groups I looked at mentioned Yavapai Point either. Makes me wonder what else I missed while I was stuck fighting for elbow room at Mather Point. North Rim is sounding better and better honestly, even if it's just a glorified overlook with a tiny gift shop.

North Rim was way quieter when I went, just don't expect much more than a glorified overlook and a gift shop (sarcasm, but barely).
