Drove past that new development near Sedona last weekend and it made my blood boil

They're putting in those fake green lawns with spray-on turf dye and sprinklers running at noon in 110 degree heat. I counted 6 houses on one street with actual green grass (not even artificial turf, real grass). Has anyone else noticed builders ignoring native landscaping requirements in their area?

and the thing is, those watered lawns are gonna be dead in a month once the water bills hit and they realize they can't keep up with the maintenance. they're literally just burning money and water for a look that'll be dead grass by august.

You ever seen someone try to keep up with that? My buddy Mike spent like four hundred bucks on one of those fancy sprinkler systems last June. By mid July his grass was still dead and his water bill was double what he normally pays. @taylor_patel hit it right, they're just throwing money at something that can't last.

Wait, $400 for a sprinkler system seems high, most decent setups (like, the basic ones) run closer to $200 or $250 depending on your yard size.
