I finally stopped fighting the sun with window film

My living room in Phoenix hit 95 degrees every afternoon until I put up 3M ceramic film on the west-facing glass. The house dropped 12 degrees and my AC finally caught a break, but the tint left a purple haze on the white walls. Anyone else deal with color shift from solar film on desert windows, or did I pick the wrong shade?

Oh man, my buddy went through this exact thing in Tucson! He put that same ceramic film on his west windows and yeah, the whole room turned this weird lavender color, especially on his white ceiling. The film folks told him it was normal because the film blocks certain light waves, so the light that gets through is kinda blue-purple. He ended up going with a lighter shade on the glass and the purple got way less noticable. Maybe try a sample patch on one window first before doing the whole house? It is a real trade-off because that heat drop is no joke in the desert.
