Just finished a patio shade test with two different fabrics in Tucson
We put up a 90% block polyester sail and a 70% block canvas one on opposite sides of our yard for the whole summer. The polyester side stayed 15 degrees cooler and the color didn't fade at all, while the canvas started to look worn and thin after just four months. Has anyone else found a big difference between shade cloth types in this heat?

@kai_burns73 yeah the polyester side felt noticeably less like walking into an oven. More like stepping into a slightly less angry oven but still. And @the_viola fair point but when your AC bill is already trying to murder your wallet every month, a 15 degree drop in direct sun feels like winning a small lottery. The canvas just let too much heat through and started looking like a ragged dish towel by September.

I mean, is a 15 degree difference really that wild when you're dealing with 110+ out there? Sounds like both did the job honestly.

Wow, that's a huge temperature gap. Did the polyester feel any different underneath?
