My desert courtyard finally shows green after 18 months of work

I put in a gray water system back in March of last year and this morning I noticed the palo verde I planted near the outlet actually has new growth on all its branches. It's not much, maybe 6 inches of fresh green, but after watching everything stay brown for so long I finally feel like the plumbing was worth the trouble. Has anyone else had a surprise plant comeback after installing gray water?

Man that feeling of watching something green finally pop up after months of nothing is JUST the best. I totally get it. Desert dirt is stubborn and it takes forever to see results from any kind of watering setup. Gray water feels like a gamble too since you never know if the soap or whatever will mess things up. But when that palo verde starts showing off like that it makes all the digging and pipe wrestling worth it. Your hard work paid off and now you got proof right there in the branches. Keep an eye on it because once those desert trees get going they really take off.

Oh man, that reminds me of a buddy of mine out in Tucson. He spent like two years trying to get a little mesquite going in his backyard. Dude tried everything, drippers, soaker hoses, even hauled buckets of water out there when his well was acting up. Ngl, we all figured the tree was a lost cause after the third summer of it looking like a dried out stick. Then one spring, we went over for a barbecue and there it was, this little sprig of green poking out from the dirt. He just stood there staring at it with this goofy grin on his face. It's wild how much that little leaf can mean after all that waiting, you know?
