Spotted a cool graywater setup at a friend's house in Tucson

Went to a barbecue last weekend and my buddy showed me how he routed his washing machine water straight to his mesquite trees. Has anyone here tried hooking up a simple graywater system without a big permit hassle?

@stella_scott96 exactly. My buddy's mesquite has grown like crazy since he started feeding it wash water. No permits, no regrets.

That mesquite tree setup makes a lot of sense... I've been noticing more folks just quietly doing stuff like that without asking for permission first. It's like the whole world is getting tired of waiting around for someone to tell them it's okay to save water. My neighbor in Phoenix did the same thing with his shower drain feeding a couple of citrus trees and it's been running fine for two years now. Reminds me of how people started putting up fences without permits during the lockdowns... just a quiet wave of common sense solutions nobody wants to admit are working.
