That insulation contractor who laughed at my stucco fix
Had a guy come out to quote blown-in insulation for my Phoenix place last Tuesday. He took one look at my stucco patch job from two years ago and just shook his head. Said 'you sealed that with standard caulk, not elastomeric, so it'll crack by next monsoon season.' I brushed him off until I found three hairline fractures along the roofline this morning. Now I'm stuck redoing the whole repair before the attic work starts. Anybody else run into pros who call out your old mistakes and end up being right?

i mean, idk, maybe it's just me but sometimes those pros are just trying to make themselves look good by calling out small stuff. i had a pest control guy tell me my caulk job around the windows was "gonna let termites in" and i was like whatever dude, you just want to upsell me. it's been three years and nothing's happened. plus even if that stucco patch does crack a little, you can just touch it up with elastomeric later for way less hassle than redoing the whole thing now. seems like contractors love to act like every little flaw is a disaster when half the time it's fine.

@kimw57 you got that right. My buddy Dave had a roofer point out his shingle patch was off by like half an inch. Dave said whatever, it's fine. Next big storm water got behind it and rotted his whole soffit. Cost him triple what it would've been to just redo it right the first time. Pro was spot on, Dave was just stubborn.
