That reflective roof coating I was skeptical about actually worked

I put Gaco roof coating on my Tucson house last June and figured it would peel off by August like every other DIY fix I try. But after a 115 degree week my AC ran half as much and the coating still looks new. Anyone else had luck with this stuff or did I just get lucky with the prep work?

Prep work always makes or breaks these things.

after a 115 degree week my AC ran half as much" - that's a big deal right there. I did the same thing to my garage in Phoenix a couple years back, and the temp difference was wild. Prep work is everything though, you're probably right about that. I scrubbed the hell out of the surface with a wire brush and used a primer first, and mine's still holding up fine after two summers. Just keep an eye on the edges where water pools, that's where mine started to lift a little.

Prep work is the difference between it lasting and wasting your weekend. @mileslane, I tried spraying a light coat of water on mine before I rolled the paint to help with adhesion and it hasn't lifted at all yet. Phoenix heat is brutal, but a clean surface and a little patience goes a long way.
