Took a neighbor's advice on keeping the dust down during drywall work

My neighbor Dave said I was making a huge mess because I wasn't wetting the gypsum before sanding. Tried it on a patch job last Saturday and the difference was night and day. Barely any haze on my windows. No idea why I didn't think of that sooner. Anyone else have a trick that seems obvious now?

Wait, you actually wet the gypsum? I used to think that was just gonna make a gummy mess, but after trying it on a ceiling patch I'm a total convert.

Wetting the gypsum is a game changer for sure. Keeps the dust manageable and your neighbors happier.

120 bucks of dust-free joint compound later, my wife actually talked to me.
