Wasted $300 on reflective roof coating that peeled off in 6 months

Saw this stuff at a big box store and figured it'd help with summer cooling but it started peeling after just one monsoon season. I'm in Phoenix and my stucco roof might have been too rough for it to stick right. Anyone else tried those DIY reflective coatings and had them fail?

I mean yeah maybe it worked on a shed but a full stucco roof in Phoenix sun is a whole different animal. The texture on stucco is way more porous and rough than what those paints are meant for, even with a good wash. I've seen a bunch of people in my neighborhood try that stuff and it flakes right off after one monsoon season. It's not always about prep, sometimes the product just isn't built for that kind of surface. Idk, maybe it's just me but I'd rather just pay a pro to spray on the proper coating than mess with another DIY fix that might not hold.

Dude I gotta push back here. I slapped that same reflective coating on my shed roof two years ago in Tucson and it's still holding up fine. Maybe the problem is how you prepped the surface? Stucco needs a good pressure wash and primer before you lay anything on.
