Why does nobody mention the dust storm test for new windows?

Read a post yesterday about triple pane windows and the guy said his in Phoenix passed the 60 mph haboob test last July, meanwhile mine rattled so bad I thought the glass was gonna pop. Has anyone else regretted skipping the foam seal around the frame?

Man, I feel you on this. I put in new windows two years ago and skipped the foam seal around the frame because the install guy said it was optional. Big mistake. We got a decent windstorm here in Colorado, nothing crazy, but the rattling was so bad my cat hid under the bed. I ended up pulling the trim off and stuffing that foam strip in myself, took like an afternoon. The difference is night and day, no more shaking and the room is quieter too. My advice, if you can still get behind the frame, just do it. It's cheap and way easier than replacing a cracked pane later.

That "install guy said it was optional" line made me SO mad for you. I swear some of those guys just want to get in and out, they don't care if your windows rattle five years down the road. Foam seal is like ten bucks a roll, it's not some fancy upgrade, it's basic protection. Good on you for fixing it yourself, most people would just live with the noise. Honestly, I think it should be code to do the foam on every window install. Saves everyone a headache later.
