Browsing an old service manual and the torque spec for a 6.9L injector line nut was way lower than I guessed
Found it in a dog-eared Ford binder from '84, says 18 ft-lbs. I've been cranking them way tighter for ages. Anyone else get tripped up by an old spec like that?

My buddy rebuilt his old 7.3 and snapped a line because his modern torque wrench was set for something else. Those old numbers really sneak up on you.

Is it weird how the old ways just don't line up with new stuff, kind of like how @singh.elizabeth's grandma's recipe falls apart with modern flour? It's a whole different world now.

That's a perfect example of how old specs don't translate, @noahs37. It happens with everything from recipes to software settings. People forget the old rules were made for different tools.

My grandpa's old bread recipe never works with new flour.
