Just realized the value of a clean shop floor after a talk with a retired mechanic.
Met an old guy named Frank at a truck stop in Amarillo. He said he spent his last 10 years just sweeping his bay spotless every night. Claimed it saved him 15 minutes every morning looking for dropped bolts. Started doing it myself last month. How many of you actually clean your bay daily?

My dad ran a body shop for thirty years and had the same rule. It's not just about finding tools, it's about starting the day with your head clear instead of walking into a mess. I see it now with my kids doing homework at a clean kitchen table versus a cluttered one. That small win in the morning sets the tone for everything else.

That "small win in the morning" thing is so true. I used to leave my keys and wallet in a different spot every night. Wasting ten minutes searching while already late just made the whole day feel frantic. Now they go on the same hook, every time. It sounds stupid but that tiny bit of order makes a real difference.

Ever think a clean floor was just for looks? I did. My bay was a mess, tools everywhere, greasy rags in a pile. Then I started the nightly sweep like Frank said. @young.michael, fifteen minutes adds up fast. Now my first hour isn't wasted kicking around looking for a 10mm socket.
