Spent 4 hours chasing a ghost in a Freightliner engine bay near Amarillo

Found a blown fuse hiding under a corroded wire loom that looked fine from the top. Took three test drives and a call to my dad before I spotted it. Anybody else ever waste a whole day on something stupid like a fuse?

Oh man, I've definitely done that before, spent hours on a stupid little corroded connection that looked brand new.

92 bucks for a replacement part and 4 hours of my Saturday because I refused to believe a wire crimp from 1987 could fail. Turned out the thing was loose all along, not even corroded, just a bad connection from day one. I had it apart on the bench three times checking continuity before I finally wiggled the damn wire and the meter flickered. The fix took me like 30 seconds with a new butt connector. Still salty about it.

Honestly, that’s the kind of ghost chase that makes you wanna throw the whole meter across the garage. Did you actually check the crimp with a pull test before you went for the continuity check, or did you just assume it was solid because it looked clean? I’ve learned the hard way that a visual inspection on old wiring means basically nothing if you don't physically tug on it. That 30 second fix must have stung real bad after all that bench time.
