Trying to convince my old man to either fix or scrap his diesel beater

My dad has this beat-up diesel truck from the 90s. It hasn't run in five years. Every time I offer to help get it going, he says he'll do it himself but never does. Last week, I found rodents nesting in the engine bay. I'm concerned it's a hazard. Has anyone else had to push a family member to make a decision on a project vehicle? I don't want to overstep, but it's frustrating.

Man, that truck might be his last link to a hobby or his younger days. Have you asked him what the truck means to him instead of just what's wrong with it?

Ugh, it's like some universal dad rule to hold onto broken stuff forever. I see it with old tools and half-finished projects too, such a total waste of space.

Is it really a total waste of space though?

Sort it into a fix now pile and a toss pile. Bet you only keep half of it.
