Wasted $150 on a 'universal' DPF pressure sensor that didn't fit my 2015 Ram 3500

The connector looked right online, but the pinout was different, so I had to eat the cost and order the OEM part after losing a whole afternoon on it.

Yeah the "looks identical" trap. I started just taking the old part with me to the store to match it in the parking lot, saves so much headache.

Ugh that's the worst lol. Had the same thing happen with a coolant temp sensor for my old Silverado. The aftermarket one looked identical but the threads were just slightly off, couldn't even force it. Total waste of a Saturday.

My neighbor's alternator swap went the same way...

...and honestly it's kind of wild how this keeps happening across everything now, not just truck parts. @jessica921 your neighbor's alternator story reminded me - I got a "universal" shower head last month that was supposed to fit any standard pipe, but the threads were like half a millimeter different and it dripped constantly. Idk why companies are allowed to call things universal when they clearly aren't. Feels like stuff just gets designed to force you to buy OEM no matter what now.
