Got told my lighting was 'lazy' and it made me rethink everything

Some guy on a critique thread said my digital portraits looked flat because I was using the same softbox setup for every piece. He called it lazy lighting. So I spent a week forcing myself to paint with rim lights and harsh shadows instead. Now I get way more depth in my faces. Anyone else had a single comment flip their whole process?

Did you run out of extension cords or something?

Wait, they just kept adding outlets without checking the breaker? That's a $5,000 house fire waiting to happen, @brooke_jones. I'd lose my mind if I saw that setup.

@brooke_jones honestly I used to think the same thing. I was always like "just get a longer cord or move stuff around." But then my neighbor set up this whole multi outlet strip nightmare across their backyard and it kept tripping the breaker. That's when I realized some people just don't have enough outlets in the right spots and extension cords can make things look trashy or be a real fire hazard. Have you ever tried to run a bunch of stuff off one outlet in a garage?
