That one critique about my lighting that I fought for weeks

I posted a piece on a forum back in March and someone said my shadows were all wrong because the light source was inconsistent. I argued at first, thought they just didn't get my style. After a week I went back and looked at it side by side with a photo reference from a sunset in Phoenix and yeah, they were right. I changed to using a single light layer per scene and it cleaned up my work a ton. So who's side are you on, should you stick to your gut on a piece or always listen to outside feedback?

So should you always trust some stranger over your own vision? @adam_baker I bet even a bad pizza feedback thing still tells you something about what you're doing. Sometimes the truth hurts but it makes your work better in the long run.

Nah, I disagree... sometimes your gut knows something the feedback is missing.

Honestly, my gut tells me I'm hungry, but that's probably just bad pizza feedback.
