That one Tuesday my Wacom pen died mid-project

I was about 6 hours into a client's character design last Tuesday when my pen just stopped working. No low battery warning, no error popup, just dead in the middle of shading a hand. I spent 45 minutes troubleshooting the USB port and reinstalling drivers before I found a backup pen in my drawer. The client deadline was 5 PM and I had to finish the whole piece using just mouse clicks and keyboard shortcuts. Has anyone else had a hardware failure wreck a whole day's workflow?

Wait, is this actually a big deal? I mean you found a backup pen in your drawer so the panic was over pretty quick. Honestly if you plan around it a mouse only workflow isn't that bad for finishing up linework and shading. I've done full illustrations with just a mouse before because my tablet driver got corrupted and I had to wait three days for a replacement. You still got the project done by 5 PM right? Sounds like you adapted fine. Maybe the real issue is not having a second pen charging and ready to go as a habit.
