The "glitch art" phase from 3 years ago is making a comeback and I don't know how to feel about it
I was scrolling through the showcase feeds last week and saw three different pieces using pixel sorting and data bending. Same exact techniques that flooded the boards back in 2022. Back then everyone was doing it because it was fresh. Now it feels like people are just copying old tutorials. Has anyone else noticed this cycle where trends come back every couple years? Is that just how digital art works now?

Troychen, you might be onto something there but it's not just about my own failed attempts at pixel sorting. I actually read an article from a digital curator who said these trends cycle every 2-3 years because new artists discover old tutorials and present them as fresh work. At the bottom line though, if the technique is done well with a unique concept behind it, does it really matter if it's a comeback or not?

Are you just mad because your own pixel sort attempts came out looking like scrambled TV static?

Whoa, article's probably right about the cycle but that timeline feels a bit short.
