Unpopular opinion: NFTs are killing the point of digital art showcases

I went to a local digital art meetup in Portland last month. One guy spent 20 minutes talking about how his pixel art monkey sold for 2 ETH. Nobody cared about the actual art, just the price tag. Later I talked to a woman who had spent 3 years building a portfolio of detailed landscapes. She couldn't get anyone to look at them. Has anyone else noticed the money talk drowning out the craft at these events?

Did you try starting a small feedback circle? That helped my group stay focused on the work.

Saw a study that said small groups actually do better with feedback.
