I was dead wrong about folder organizing tools - here's what sold me

For years I thought those auto sorting folder tools were just gimmicks to make you pay for something you could do manually. Then last month I had like 14,000 random screenshots, downloads, and old invoices cluttering my PC from the last 2 years. I tried a free trial of File Juggler out of pure frustration, and it sorted everything into labeled folders by date and file type in under 5 minutes. Honestly feeling dumb for spending hours during the pandemic moving files around one by one. Anyone else have a tool they swore off that turned out to be a lifesaver?

14,000 screenshots? Man, that number alone gives me anxiety just thinking about it.

That 14,000 file mess sounds like my camera roll after a vacation where I take way too many photos and never delete anything. It's funny how we get stuck doing things the hard way just because we assume the easy way is a scam at first.

The whole thing reminds me of how my grandpa used to hand-file his taxes every year because he didn't trust the software. Then one year he tried it and realized he'd been wasting three weekends of his life for decades. The sunk cost fallacy gets us good, like because you already suffered through the hard way, you figure you have to keep doing it.
