Spent 3 hours looking for a file I saved "somewhere safe"
I spent all Sunday morning trying to find a tax spreadsheet I needed for my appointment on Monday. I put it in a folder called "Important Stuff 2024" which is buried inside five other folders like "Old Desktop" and "Misc Backup July". Took me 3 full hours and I finally found it in a random Downloads folder from two months ago. Has anyone else lost files because you organize things too much?

My Downloads folder is a digital black hole too.

240 files just from last month alone, @iris_schmidt. I keep telling myself I'll sort them out, but the pile just keeps getting deeper. At this point I'm scared to even open the folder.

My Downloads folder is sitting at 1,847 files right now and I refuse to open it. What actually happens to those files after a year of just sitting there? Do they just take up space forever or do they get corrupted somehow? I found an old resume from 2019 in there last week that wouldn't even open anymore.
