Spent 4 hours finding a file I saved 'somewhere' last month
Honestly, I needed a PDF receipt from April for my taxes and thought I'd grab it in 5 minutes. Ngl, four hours later I was still digging through 15 different 'Downloads' folders, 3 cloud drives, and a folder called 'important stuff' from 2022. Some people say just search by date but that never works for me because my system is too messy. Others swear by tagging everything right when you save it, which sounds nice but who has that kind of patience? What do you do when you lose a file in the digital abyss, do you brute force it or have a trick?

Used to be all about the brute force method too, honestly. But after losing an entire folder of scanned documents last year, I finally gave in and started organizing things. Now I just throw everything into one master folder and use the search bar. Doesn't solve everything but it's way better than digging through 50 folders.

I mean honestly I just brute force it and dig through everything, all that tagging stuff only works if you're organized from day one which I'm definitely not.

Dude I feel that so hard. I tried tagging everything once and gave up after like three days when I realized I was just making up random tags that made no sense later. @paige166 I feel your pain on the lost folder thing though, I had a similar scare with some old family photos and now I just throw everything into one big folder and pray the search bar works. Honestly half the time I end up finding stuff by accident while looking for something else, which is its own kind of organized chaos. At least brute forcing it means you never have to remember what you named a tag that one time at 2 AM.
