Used to keep every single app on my phone home screen, now I only keep 9
For years I had like 80 apps scattered across 5 pages on my iPhone. I thought I needed everything within one tap. Then about 6 months ago my phone felt like it was dying, battery draining in 4 hours. I deleted everything except messaging, maps, music, camera, calendar, a notes app, calculator, and my banking app. That's it. The rest I just search for or use the app library. Now I never swipe through pages looking for stuff. It's weirdly freeing but I still get anxiety about deleting something I might need later. Has anyone else gone super minimal on their home screen and regretted it or stuck with it?

Nah, I'm the opposite. My home screen is a chaotic mess with 30+ apps because I hate digging through search or folders for stuff I use daily. If I have to type to find an app, I probably just won't bother opening it. That minimalist approach sounds nice in theory but I tried it once and ended up reinstalling half the apps within a week because I kept needing quick access to things like my weather app, a timer, or a shopping list. The whole battery drain thing is real though, but for me the fix was just closing background apps and turning off notifications rather than hiding everything away. I'd rather have the clutter and know exactly where everything is than feel like I'm hunting for tools every time I need them.

Hiding them behind a second page is a solid compromise, honestly. Keeps them out of sight but not deleted.

Man yeah I did the exact same thing except I hid Instagram and Twitter in a folder on the second page so I don't mindlessly tap them, and that small change cut my screen time in half. If you're worried about losing something, just move it to a folder on page two instead of deleting it completely so you still have it but it's not in your face.
