Why does nobody talk about how long it takes to sort through old screenshots

I've got like 8,000 screenshots on my phone from the last 3 years. I thought I'd just spend a Sunday afternoon cleaning them out real quick. Yeah, that turned into a 3 week nightmare because I had to open each one to see if it was still useful or just junk. A lot of them were receipts for stuff I bought, directions to places I already went, or memes I sent to friends. What took the longest was deciding if I needed to keep a screenshot of a text conversation or a funny tweet. I ended up deleting about 6,000 of them but it took me 18 hours total spread across multiple evenings. Has anyone else found a faster way to batch delete screenshots without having to preview every single one?

Nah, hard disagree. Just take the nuclear option. Go to your photos app, select all screenshots older than 30 days, and delete the whole batch. You're overthinking it. I did that last year with 5,000 screenshots and I've never missed a single one. If it was really important, you'd have saved it somewhere else or remembered it. The stress of hunting through each one is way worse than the tiny risk of losing something you'll never look at again anyway.

Read an article once that called screenshots "digital clutter with emotional attachment" and yeah that tracks lol. You're right that the stress of sorting is worse than losing something, but I'd still be paranoid about deleting a wedding invite or apartment details by accident. Some people swear by the 90 day rule instead of 30, gives you a little more buffer for those random things you actually need.

Honestly I feel your pain, went through the same mess last month. What saved me was using the files app on my phone to sort screenshots by date and deleting entire chunks that were clearly old memes or expired receipts. I still had to skim but it cut my time down to maybe 4 hours total.
