Finally caved and bought a proper travel router for $80

I was in a cafe in Lisbon last week and their wifi kept dropping my video calls. I got this little router that creates its own network from any connection. Set it up once and now my laptop and phone just auto connect everywhere. It felt like a silly expense but it saved a client meeting yesterday. Anyone have a good backup power bank they like for long cafe days?

Travel routers are great, but they don't create a network from any connection.

Been there with the cafe wifi rage. That drop right in the middle of a sentence is the worst. Good call on the router, sometimes you just need the tool that works. For power, I've had good luck with the Anker 20,000 mAh ones, they last forever.

My Anker 737 is a total lifesaver, lol.

Is a power bank really a lifesaver though? That feels like a strong word for something that just charges your phone. I get what @lee18 is saying about needing tools that work, but calling it a lifesaver is a bit much. It's just a battery, not like it's going to perform CPR. Maybe I'm just not that attached to my devices.
