Got my laptop stolen in a Lisbon cafe and it forced a total work rethink

I was working at a spot near Praça do Comércio last Tuesday, stepped away for maybe two minutes to grab a coffee refill, and came back to an empty table. Everything was gone, including my main work machine. I had backups, but the real issue was all my two-factor auth apps were on that device. Took me three full days just to regain access to my client accounts and banking. Has anyone else been through this and set up a better recovery plan that doesn't rely on a single phone or laptop?

My wallet got lifted in Barcelona and it was the same mess. I keep a printed list of recovery codes in a safe deposit box now. It's the only thing that saved my bank account.

Yeah, that printed list is a lifesaver. I keep a second copy with a trusted friend just in case.
