I was dead set against coworking spaces for years, but signing up for one in Chiang Mai for one month back in 2019 completely changed how I get work done.

The thing that convinced me was walking in on day three and seeing three strangers in the same boat just silently nod at me from their desks, and by the end of the week we had started a little Slack group for swapping tips on local internet cafes and cheap eats - has anyone else had that kind of accidental community form at a spot you weren't sure about?

Three nods and now you're running a spy network for cheap pad thai.

Is it weird that the best part of those coworking spaces is just the simple nod of acknowledgment from someone who gets the grind? That little Slack group idea is gold for finding the hidden gems tourists never stumble on. I think that kind of accidental network forms because everyone there is fighting the same battle of staying productive in an unfamiliar place.

I get what you're saying about the nod of acknowledgment, but is it really that deep? It's just a nod - people do that at bus stops and coffee shops too.
