My big mistake with the Chiang Mai coffee shop wifi

So I've been working from this one cafe in Chiang Mai for like, three weeks straight. Great coffee, decent tables. I kept having video calls drop. Figured it was just Thailand internet, you know? Then yesterday, the barista points at my laptop. 'You sit under the big fan every day,' she says. I look up. My hotspot is literally on the ceiling fan blade. I'd been connecting to my own phone's hotspot the whole time, not their wifi. The fan was spinning it around, killing the signal every few minutes. Felt so dumb. I moved two tables over and the call was perfect. Anyone else do something this silly with their setup?

Ever try to connect to a hotspot that was literally running circles around you?

Seriously, what were you even doing? Like, were you on a bus or just walking really fast with your phone set up wrong?

Your hotspot was just trying to get a better view of the room, lmao.
