Overheard a nomad say coworking spaces are a waste of money
I was at a hostel in Medellin last week and overheard this guy telling his friend that coworking memberships are a scam for digital nomads. He said he works from cafes and parks for free and saves around $200 a month. I get his point, but I've been using a spot here for 3 months and the WiFi never drops, plus I've met three clients through networking there. On the other hand, I've definitely had months where I paid $150 and barely used the desk. What do you all think, are coworking spaces worth it or just another expense we don't need?

Ha yeah this guy's not wrong honestly. I signed up for a spot in Chiang Mai and only used it like 8 times that whole month. $180 down the drain. But then in Lisbon I was there almost every day, the AC worked great, and I met a guy who hired me for a project. It's hit or miss. Depends on the city and your routine I guess.

Haha same vibe. Spent $150 just to nap in a coworking lounge once.

Got to disagree with you a little @evan543. 8 times in a month is pretty solid for a coworking membership if you're actually getting work done. That's like $22 a visit which isn't bad compared to buying coffee all day at a cafe. Just depends on what you're after I guess but I've definitely gotten way worse value on memberships before.
