PSA: I tried working from a cafe in Lisbon for a week versus a co-working space. The difference was about $150.

Ouch, that's a serious price jump. I feel that pain, trying to save a bit of money and then the coffee adds up way faster than you'd think. A co-working space is definitely the smarter move if you're there for more than a day or two. That extra cost for a proper desk and reliable wifi starts to make total sense.

Yeah, the coffee thing is real, but for me the real killer is the food. You go in for a three dollar coffee but then you're stuck there for hours and end up buying a ten dollar sandwich and a five dollar pastry. That's like twenty bucks right there, not even counting the drink. A coworking space has a fridge so you can bring your own lunch, which saves way more than people realize. The coffee cost is just the start of it.

Totally agree about the food being the real trap. You mentioned the ten dollar sandwich and it's so true, but what about the snacks too? Like you go up for another coffee and suddenly you're grabbing a seven dollar bag of chips without even thinking. It feels like every time you get up to stretch your legs, your wallet gets lighter.

Tbh the snacks are the part that gets me the worst. I’ll walk in thinking I’m just grabbing a coffee and then I see those bags of fancy trail mix or kettle chips near the register and it’s basically over for my wallet. I’ve probably spent like 40 bucks on just random snacks over the last month at cafes without even realizing it. It’s wild how they package them up like they’re a treat but they cost more than a whole meal at the grocery store. Honestly that coworking space fridge idea sounds like a life saver for anyone trying to keep their budget in check. I feel your pain on this one for real.
