Rant: coworking passes vs just renting a local cafe table for a week

I spent 3 weeks in Chiang Mai bouncing between two coworking spots, paid like $150 total for day passes, and honestly the wifi at that little cafe near Tha Phae Gate was faster and more stable. The coworking places had all these 'community events' but I just wanted to get work done, and the cafe gave me that without the noise of people networking. Next time I'm in a city for less than a month, I'm just scouting one good coffee shop and buying a coffee every few hours, saves money and the vibe is way more chill. Has anyone else ditched coworking spaces for cafe hopping, or am I missing something about the memberships?

Oh man, this is such a good point and I feel like half the battle is just finding that one cafe with outlets that actually work and a barista who doesn't glare at you for camping out. But here's my question, did you ever hit that moment around day two or three where the cafe staff started giving you the side eye, or was it totally fine? I've had places where buying a coffee every few hours feels like you're still paying more than a day pass, especially if you're in a pricey neighborhood. And what do you do when you need to take a phone call, just step outside every single time? That's the part that always gets me, coworking spaces at least have those little phone booths.
