Realized I was overpacking after a month in Lisbon

I was lugging a 60 liter backpack and a carry on through the hills of Alfama for four weeks. A local cafe owner saw me struggling and said, 'You live here now, not on a mountain.' I had three pairs of shoes and a full kitchen kit. Now I'm down to one bag. Do you pack for a trip or for a move?

Alfama's hills are worth it, @rowan_reed68.

Yeah, I learned that the hard way too. My trick was just one pair of broken-in sneakers, the kind with really good cushion. Went through Alfama for two days straight and my feet were fine, @rowan_reed68. It's tempting to pack options but sticking with the proven comfy ones saved me. Those hills are no joke but you can actually enjoy the views if you're not in pain.

Ray173 nailed it with the broken-in sneakers trick. One pair of those with good cushion is all you need up there. I made the mistake of packing two pairs and ended up regretting every step on those cobblestones. Alfama's views are amazing but not worth torturing your feet over, trust me. Ray173's advice is the real deal if you want to actually enjoy the walk instead of counting down the hills.
