Spent $80 on a local SIM card in Bali and it saved my whole week

My usual eSIM app failed right when I had a client call booked. I ran to a shop in Canggu and got a Telkomsel card with 25GB. Had the call on a beach chair with perfect video, no dropouts. What's your go-to backup for internet when the main plan falls apart?

That's a solid fix, but local SIMs can be a real hassle to find sometimes. My backup is just hunting for a decent cafe wifi spot.

Totally agree, I found a tiny shop in a back alley in Seoul that saved my trip once.

Had a friend get totally lost in Tokyo once when his pocket wifi died. He ended up buying a cheap data-only SIM from a vending machine in the subway, of all places. Worked like a charm for the rest of his trip.

Got a 30GB SIM from a 7-Eleven in Bangkok for like ten bucks when my eSIM glitched. The guy at the counter set it up for me in two minutes and it was faster than the hotel wifi.
