That guy in the coworking space said I'd burn out in 3 months

He was right. I was doing client work 12 hours a day bouncing between Bali and Chiang Mai. After month 4 I crashed hard and couldn't look at my laptop for a week. Anyone else have someone call out your work habits before you saw it coming?

Damn dude that's rough. I had a similar thing happen back when I tried to do freelance web stuff on top of my regular job. Some older guy at the shop told me I was gonna burn out hard, and sure enough after two months of 16 hour days I couldn't even focus on a simple email. The crash is brutal when you ignore all the signs your body is giving you. Hope you took some real time off to reset.

Burning out from overwork is real but sometimes people act like it's some life ending disaster. I've pulled all nighters for weeks straight on projects and yeah it sucked but I just slept like 12 hours a few days and was fine. Maybe the crash depends on what you're actually doing. Web stuff drains you different than physical labor or whatever. Not saying it doesn't happen but some folks make it sound worse than it is.

Used to think those warnings were just people projecting their own limits onto me. Nah, turns out they were just seeing what I was too stubborn to admit. That crash humbled me real fast.

Felixlane nailed it. The signs are usually there for a while before you finally crash. I remember a freelancer in my building told me the same thing after watching me skip lunch for three weeks straight. I laughed it off at the time but she was totally right.
