Sounds like people are making a federal case out of a bad coffee date. Divorce is tough, but a formal buddy system? That's just a friend with extra steps and a weird name. If your friend's pick for a buddy tries to sell you something, maybe just go back to talking to your actual friends. The whole thing feels like overthinking a simple need for company.

My friend tried to set me up with a divorce buddy once, but the guy just kept trying to sell me on a timeshare. Guess my support system was more of a multi-level marketing scheme. Probably says more about my choice in friends than anything else. Still, a solid system in theory, if you can avoid the sales pitch.

@evan543 that's rough, a timeshare pitch is the last thing you need. The buddy system only works if both people are actually there to listen. Real support shouldn't come with a contract.
